Nelson the Sock Monkey

Here is Nelson, the Sock Monkey.  “Wait, he’s named Nelson,” you ask?  Well, according to history, John Nelson, a Swedish immigrant to the United States, patented the sock-knitting machine in 1868 and founded the Nelson Knitting Company in 1880.  He’s the one who created the famous red-heeled socks originally used to make the sock monkey stuffed dolls.  In honor of this heritage, we named our sock monkey “Nelson.”  Of course, we know Nelson won’t be upset if your little one decides to rename him right away!
